The Android operating system, which was originally designed for use in cell phones, is growing increasingly popular for use in netbooks. Acer is rumored to use Android on more of its future netbooks. One of the big selling points of the Android operating system is its fast speed in accessing the Internet.
Netbooks are prime users of cloud apps and are designed for email and browsing the Internet, so it is very important that netbooks be able to connect quickly and easily. Jim Wong, Acer’s president of IT products, says that “The Android operating system offers incredibly fast wireless connection to the Internet.”
Other manufacturers of computing technology, such as Skytone Transmission Technologies based in Guangzhou, China, have also been planning on releasing devices that operate on Android.
