Weibu “N10A” Netbook Packs a Dual-Core Intel Atom 330 Processor

Up until now, netbooks have had single-core processors. Wanting to set itself apart from the competition, netbook manufacturer Shenzhen Weibu Electronics has recently come out with a machine that instead utilizes a dual-core Intel Atom 330 processor and Nvidia 9400M Ion graphics chipset – the Weibu N10A netbook.
While these chipsets have been fairly common in nettops, they have not been the trend in netbooks. Maybe it’s because the Atom 330 processor consumes double the power of the standard Intel Atom processor.
The Atom 330 processor supports hyperthreading, which allows the user to perform twice as many tasks as they could on a similar machine that’s powered by the standard Intel Atom processor. Because the 1.6GHz Intel Atom 330 processor has dual cores, it’s also able to integrate two times the cache memory of a single-core Atom processor.

Weibu’s N10A netbook is rumored to go on sale in the near future, with a price tag of 49,800 yen (or roughly $530 USD). The machine will come with 1 GB of RAM, a 150 GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and a webcam. No pre-installed operating system will come with the netbook.
No other details were revealed thus far, but we’ll dish out more info as we find it.
