Apple Sells Two Millionth iPad

Wow. The iPad has turned out to be way more successful than I expected it to be. Apple has announced today that it has sold its two millionth iPad. Keep in mind that this milestone comes less than a month after the sale of the one millionth iPad and less than sixty days after the initial release of the iPad on April 3.

The iPad was released internationally and, according to Steve Jobs in a press release, “customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do.”

Apple has also announced that the App Store now has over 5,000 native iPad apps and over 200,000 apps total. Though Apple has not revealed specific sale figures for each of the iPad models or the number of iPads sold in specific countries, avid Apple watchers are hoping for such statistics at the Worldwide Developers Conference, coming up next month.

Getting back on topic though. Who needs a tablet PC anyway? Just buy a freakin full fledged laptop already. You’ll get tons more value for the money, And since so many people already own an Iphone, that makes it even more mind bogling to me why one would buy this.

Huh. If Apple keeps it up like that, they might match the sales of netbooks…

iPads came to Canada last weekend. Its size / weight ratio makes it awkward to hold for any length of time (so, oh look, its really a desktop / laptop computer), its basic model has the memory of a now-defunct iPod Touch model, runs on a stale OS not meant for a device of its size, and still relies on – for any meaningful, useful work on it – on syncing with a ‘real’ computer (like my netbook) to sync via iTunes.

If you really must get one, follow Apple’s usual model process – wait six months for the inevitable ‘issues’ to be found, debated by fanbois and, with luck, fixed, by Apple and for them to release v2, dropping v1’s price $100 or so in the process.

I would love to gwt the iPad….for me, the price is a little step. I would need 32gb. I already have an iPod Touch that is new. I would love to play with one for a day of two. Can I keep my iPod Touch? Can I have my songs on both pad and touch?

Those sales are amazing. I want one but I am waiting for the 2nd or 3rd gen. I havn’t heard of any issues with the IPad yet and hopefully wont. But you know how 1st gen things can be, they all have a kink somewhere.

I think people buy this beacuse it just looks cool. Then when they find out what it can’t do, they regret it.
