Competion between Google Chrome OS and Microsoft Windows Heats Up

Google and Dell are in communication about Google Chrome OS and the future it plays in computing and possible installation of Google Chrome OS on a Dell netbook. Dell realizes that Chrome OS could very well offer stiff competition to Microsoft Windows and working with Google could benefit them in the next couple years as changes come to the industry.

There has been no official announcement from Dell or Google about a deal but “talks” are underway. If an agreement is reached Dell would be the third manufacturer to build a future netbook with Chrome OS. The other computer manufacturers that plan on releasing netbooks or other computers with Chrome OS are Acer and HP.

I wonder how this will affect the way the computer runs will it be faster less obtrusive? It is quite annoying that you have to tweak Microsoft and not use all its functions because it slow your PC down.

That would be really groundbreaking deal, if somehow Google can break their Chome browser into Dell, or any other major computer brand. It’s about time that Internet Explorer usage takes a fall!

That would be a great idea if the new laptops came with Google Chrome but I doubt it would happen.

I don’t think Chrome OS will only allow to run web-based apps. They’ve had a buzzword (“Chrome is used by over 30 million users”) and decided to cash in on it.

It looks like Google is the first company that might truly be able to challenge Microsoft in the bundled software market. I think like most, I’m quite excited to see how Google’s new operating system will be.

I think no one can beat the Microsoft in software. It will take lots of efforts from Google to beat the no1 company. Till then Microsoft relaunch its OS with more classic feature.

@Sales, you never know… I mean at one time Yahoo used to be the dominant search engine, and no one thought they could taken off it’s throne, but surely enough the small Google at the time battled and took the giant down.

My feelings is that Google OS will be free, but hopefully they will keep the ads off of the actual operating system, letting users to have some type of privacy, but i wouldn’t mind ads placed on the browser and having Google apps and programs running… as long as its not REALLY obtrusive, Google should be able to pose a threat… Microsoft will be around for a long time to come.

According to Google, its Chrome browser is already used by 30 million people after only nine months on the market. Chrome OS is billed as a “natural extension” of the Chrome browser, as well as “our attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.

You know you are on to something big when the competition sits up and takes notice of you. Well, this is what precisely is happening with the case of Google and Microsoft.
