Brushed-Metal Sheng T108 Netbook Nicer Than Expected

The Sheng T108 is a flashy new Chinese netbook with a brushed aluminum shell that’s been catching a lot of glances lately. It comes with slightly better than average features – 3G, 2 GB of RAM, and a 250 GB HDD on top of the traditional 10-inch display, Intel Atom N280, and Wi-Fi.

It looks like this Shanzai product is a copycat of the HP Mini 2133, a netbook with a similarly sexy exterior. Still, the Sheng T108 looks like it can hold its own, selling for a competitive $300 in China. I wouldn’t expect to see this thing outside of the mainland any time soon though, so don’t get your hopes up.

The Malata R108T Touchscreen Tablet Netbook

Chinese manufacturer Malata has introduced a new touchscreen tablet netbook called the Malata R108T, packing a rotating 10″ 1024 x 600 pixel screen and other standard-issue specs like a 1.6 GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1 GB of memory, and a 160 GB HDD. The machine is priced at $435 – $40 cheaper than the ASUS Eee PC T91, whose screen is only 8.9″.

Other features include Wi-Fi, a webcam, VGA, audio i/o, two USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader and 3400 mAh battery. The Malata R108T comes with Windows 7.

The machine has one major downside: it lacks support for portrait-orientation use. If the netbook gets over to the US or Europe that could be easily fixed with screen rotation apps, but it’s still a strange deficit that’s perhaps made up for by the price tag.

The Malata R108T comes in Ferrari Red, Piano Black, Coffee, Gold and Champagne.

The Colorful S101 NewYork Netbook Hails from China

Though the name of the netbook may be misleading, the 10″ Colorful S101 NewYork netbook is actually manufactured by a Chinese company.

The NewYork netbook inĀ  general has pretty typical specs (a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi, and a 1.3 megapixel webcam) but it also has some less common features: an accelerometer and software that can rotate the display when the netbook is rotated, similar to what happens on an iPhone. The accelerometer also provides some shock protection for the hard drive. If the G-sensor detects the netbook is in freefall, it will automatically shut down the netbook’s hard drive.

The NewYork netbook weighs 1.1 kg with dimensions 265mm x 193mm x 25mm. The price tag is 2180 yuan, or roughly $320 USD, which isn’t too bad considering that the netbook doubles as an e-reader.

Chinese CAZSH Netbook Features Nvidia ION Graphics

CASZH NVIDIA ION Netbook

Word over at Shanzai has it that Chinese PC manufacturer CASZH has created a netbook prototype featuring the Nvidia ION graphics chip. It should feature otherwise innocuous staples like the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU, a 10.1-inch display, 1024 x 600 pixels, 1 GB of RAM, and a 160 GB hard drive.

The netbook can handle Blu-Ray decoding and HD video, but the low-res screen definitely won’t do them justice. However, with a convenient HDMI port you can hook the computer up to an HDTV and take in all of that glorious video quality.

Other features include 2 USB ports, a microphone, flash card reader, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and a 3-cell battery.

Chinese consumers could get the netbook for as low as $300, but that kind of pricing seems unlikely for US markets.

11.1-Inch Chinese Netbook Has Hi-Res Screen

Chinese Netbook

This recent netbook is in the small but growing category of 11-inch-plus machines delivered by Chinese manufacturers. Coming in at 11.1 inches, this netbook has a 1366 x 768 display and your standard combo of a 1.6 GHz Atom, 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB HDD, and Windows XP.

The machine has 3 USB ports as well as an SD card reader. The keyboard doesn’t seem to be as big as it could be, but the chiclet-style keys are reminiscent of certain Chinese Hackbooks.

I highly doubt this is coming to the US, but if you’re overseas you can find this baby for the equivalent of $380 USD.
