Dell Adds Fashionable Deanna Cheuk Inspiron Mini Netbook to Lineup
Dell’s updating their list of fashionably stylish netbooks again. The newest addition to the family is the limited edition Deanna Cheuk Inspiron Mini netbook. The netbook will have a 10.1″ screen display with 1024×600 resolution, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, an Intel GMA 500 graphics chipset, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, a 160 GB SATA hard drive, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and HDMI output. It’ll also come with the Windows 7 Starter Edition OS and a 3-cell lithium ion battery.
There’ll only be 5250 units of the Deanna Cheuk netbook available, and they’ll each be individually numbered. They’ll be exclusively sold at Best Buy stores with a price tag of $379.99 – it’s no Black Friday deal, but it’s considerably cheaper than some other versions of the Dell Inspiron Mini netbooks. If you’re interested, be sure to get yours before they all sell out.

Why Paint Your Nails When You Can Paint Your Netbook?
Netbook manufacturer Dell has teamed up with nail polish experts OPI to bring you 26 new color palette choices for netbooks and notebooks. You will be able to customize Dell Inspiron Mini, Inspiron, and Studio computers in the Dell Design Studio.

Six of the 26 colors will be holiday-themed, with examples like “Dear Santa,” and “Smitten with Mittens.” Did you just cringe at the sound of “Smitten with Mittens”? We don’t blame you, but at least Dell’s trying to be creative.
Overall, the whole themed concept sounds pretty innovative – allowing individuals the opportunity for personalization. We don’t know what the pricing and availability of these machine will be just yet, but when we do we’ll let you know.

Absolute Software Corporation, the leading provider of computer theft recovery systems, has just announced that the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition netbook will come with a free 12- month Computrace LoJack subscription.

Parents will be able to feel more secure about their children having netbooks and laptops with this kind of technology. According to the VP of Consumer Business at Absolute, Mark Grace, “As any parent can tell you, once you put a highly portable computer like the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition in the hands of your kids, they don’t want to put it down, let alone lose it altogether.”
This newly-equipped netbook will be available in the United States this October at Dell.com as well as on Walmart store shelves and Walmart.com.

Dell Introduces Location-Based Features for Mini 10 Netbook

Dell’s new business plan has taken some hints from the age-old mantra of real estate – location, location, location. The PC giant’s new location-based netbook program may garner it far more buyers for its Inspiron Mini line.
The plan involves selling Dell Mini 10 netbooks with features like GPS tracking and a Google Maps-style business finder. Other Dell netbooks could receive the new features as well.
Hopefully, Dell will be able to differentiate its netbooks from the machines of competitors like HP, Acer, and ASUS. Second only to HP in computer sales, the new changes by Dell could have wide-reaching effects.
Location-based services got a major boost in eminence since the release of the eternally useful iPhone. Combined with 3G internet, Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10 netbooks could become a new generation of take-anywhere devices.

Vodafone and Dell Partner to Releases First Netbook with Built-in Broadband
Vodafone and Dell are planning on releasing the first netbook with built-in mobile broadband. This netbook is the Dell Inspiron Mini. In the past, these two companies have partnered to release netbooks equipped with SIM cards, but this is the first time that a netbook will have built-in broadband.

Vodafone will be offering these netbooks with a 2-year contract. Service plans will cost a bit over $40 per month. The Dell Inspiron Mini comes with an 8.9″ screen and features Windows XP, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Netbook Weights Compared
For those always on the go, ultraportables and netbooks are a godsend. While ultraportables have full-sized keyboards, larger screens, and faster processors though, they also sport a much heftier price tag! Netbooks are generally priced at less than $500 and can perform basic everyday functions, including checking e-mail and surfing the Internet and preparing documents. The downsides to netbooks are that they have relatively smaller screens, keyboards, and processors.
Here is a comparison of the weights of some common netbooks in the market right now:
